Our song Anyway from our album "Distant Garden" was nominated for
Best College Rock song by the Just Plain
Folks 2009 music awards. There were 42K albums with 560K songs submitted
for award consideration, and in our category, there were 23 other nominees. Just
getting nominated with all the hundreds of thousands of songs submitted is a
huge honor and is really mind blowing. On August 29th 2009, the award show was
held at the Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville, Tenn. The top six of the 24 nominees
were announced from the stage. Our song Anyway placed 3rd, with Michael Logen
taking the top spot for the song Mystery. Congratulations to Michael!

KFOK in the Georgetown/Sacramento, California area has picked up some of our
songs
and they are featured specifically during the new artists show by Trapper. His
show runs from 3-5pm eastern time every Thursday. You can listen via the web at
www.kfok.org.

Clear Channel has added our song "Anyway" to their music
website. Clear Channel owns over 1,000 radio stations across the US, and any
Clear Channel radio station program director can choose to play the music that
is on the Clear Channel music website. Songs that get a lot of play on the Clear
Channel music website have a better chance at getting played on traditional radio.
So help us out!
Please go to our
Clear Channel song page
and listen to "Anyway" as often as you can, and
also tell your friends.
For those that have downloaded our songs, you can download the CD artwork from
the link above
(zip file) to print your own CD liner and insert. It's at 150 dpi. If you want 300dpi, use our contact
link and send us your email address and we'll get it to you.
Thank you all so much! :D

News
7/7/2006
In the Friday, July 7, 2006 issue of The
Gainesville Sun, our album, "Distant Garden" made Dave Schlenker's
Top 5 Weekly Must List. He said, "Teen singer Sarah Hoffman powers this
Gainesville band through a well-produced, solid set of mostly originals. But,
the best download is a rockin' chick cover of Cheap Trick's Surrender."
Mr. Schlenker is an entertainment writer for the Sun and his list appeared on
the front page of the Weekend section. We thank everyone for his or her support.

The Misfit Toys is a
Gainesville, Florida band, with decades of
combined musicianship. Our songs are mostly original in a modern
pop/rock style, with a touch of other genres heard in many of the songs.
Listen to our music, and you'll hear what
we mean.
Sarah
Hoffman,
Lead Vocalist
Sarah has a powerful,
uninhibited rock-vocal delivery, and yet she knows just when a hibit is
needed. Can you believe that? Performing for more than 10 years, Sarah
has appeared on national television, performed in front of 30,000 people
at festivals, loves music, her friends, and tarantula spiders. Currently
in high school, she seriously dreams of having a career in music. So
much so, that we still can't convince her to take a driver's ed class so
she can drive and we can quit carting her butt around.
Bruce
Barkwill,
Drums
Nobody really knows
where this guy has been, or what he's done, but he intends to leave a
legacy. He hangs out a lot with Pat Lanips. Bruce's drumming style is
best described by Marilyn Manson in a 1992 Miami interview in "New
Times" during their "Spooky Kids" touring days.
"Bruce drums like four spitting cobras in a straight jacket. You never
know where or when the next strike is coming." Yeah, that's what was
said. Spitting cobra. Just hold that in your mind a few minutes.
Chet
Honeycutt,
Guitars/BG vocals
Chet hails from North
Carolina and is a graduate of the Berkley School of Music. He's been
with the band since the start and plays the guitar like it's part of his
anatomy. Chet considers surfing at the beach to be mankind's second best
reward for a week of hard labor. If you want to know what the best
reward is, you'll have to ask him. We won't mention it here.
Clayton
Bush,
Guitars/BG vocals
Clayton eats,
breathes and sleeps music, which is why he's so skinny. Yet, he still
finds time for his education and social life. Being a musician, he has a
lot of time for that. With years of guitar experience, great attention
to detail, and an ear for the sound of modern music, he doesn't lose
track of its historical roots. This is our attempt to make Clayton seem
much older than he really is. Regardless, he still exemplifies where
great musicians come from and kicks ass on guitar. So there.
Richard Bassil (not
pictured), Bass/BG vocals
We don't have a
picture of Richard because he doesn't appear in film or mirrors, and
avoids bright lights. He's seeing a doctor about that. We can tell you
though he went to high school with Bob Seger and has played with some of
the best musicians and song writers in the world, so yeah, he's been
around the block and is our "senior" member. We call him cooty man. You
figure it out from there.
Pat Lanips (not pictured)
He is
everywhere we are. We don't have a picture of him either because he's
always somewhere else looking for knobs that go to eleven. :)
Other musicians that have performed with us:
Rick McCauley,
Daniel Grey, Rey Cortes, Pink Suit, Mi J
